The Government Services Buddhist Association continues its commendable work with the publication of this seventy seventh iissue of the "Vesak Sirisara" Buddhist Annual.

Through more than seven decades Vesak Sirisara has contributed to the noble work of spreading the Dhamma throughout hte world.

With His Enlightenment 2600 years ago the Buddha understood the causes and conditions that lead to suffering and happiness of all beings. Since His Enlightenment he spent 45 years teaching the Dhamma wiith its core-principles of tolerance and compassion to help lead people out of misery and suffering showing the way to the bliss of Nirvana. His teaching of non-attachment is the essence of Buddhism.

On this thrice blessed day of Vesak which celebrates the Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana of the Buddha, let us be guided by the sublime teachings of the Dhamma, to lead a life based on good principles, and in peace and harmony within one's self and with others.

I wish the readers of Vesak Sirisara a very Happy Vesak.
